Fairbank United was formed in 1996 by Mark Rogers, a local resident, who was impressed by the pool of local footballing talent on his doorstep. Mark enlisted the help of the local youngsters and formed a team late in the summer of 1996. Having missed the deadline to enter a league the team embarked on a series of friendlies over the year before making their league debut in the Bradford Sunday Alliance Division 4 on the 31st of August 1997. The open aged team lasted one season.

At the same time an under 12's team was formed under the tutelage of Shazad Bashir. Making their debut season in the Craven, Aire and Wharfedale League in 1998 Shazad took on this talented bunch of youngsters right through to the under 18's league in the 2002-2003 season when he decided to take some time out to gain his own professional qualifications.

The club was relaunched in 2006 by Shazad and Akif Waseem and since it's humble beginnings have gone from strength to strength. The club currently runs open age team , and four junior teams at U10's U13,15 and 18’s

The hard work and dedication of the volunteers has been rewarded by the club being awarded the West Riding Charter Standard Club of the year award for 2012.

Fairbank has given the opportunity to play football to hundreds of young people since its inception, many of whom are still playing open age football, either with the club or elsewhere locally. The club also prides itself on its community work. Since 2009 the club has successfully run a Fun Day for the local community every August. The club has also raised thousands of pounds for a variety of charitable causes.

The club could not exist without the dedication of its tireless volunteers, and the support received from within the local community, Over the years there have been numerous individuals who have come to the aid of the club in their time of need, from helping provide transport to away games through to sponsoring the teams. Fairbank United is grateful to all those who have helped keep the club going, and hope to continue to aid the community
